  There is a possibility that one or more of the rear axle bearing bolts could have been tightened insufficiently during the manufacturing process. In this condition, the bolt(s) could become loose during vehicle operation and could eventually detach. The detached bolt(s) could damage rear brake components during rotation, resulting in a reduction of brake performance or a potential wheel lock up, which could increase the risk of a crash.

  The mounting bearings of the front shock absorbers (struts) can be damaged if the strut is subject to a high load (e.g. a large bump), which may cause the upper side of the strut rod to separate, causing a loss of stability.

  As a result, the auxiliary battery may no longer receive power from the DC-DC converter. If the auxiliary battery is discharged to a certain level, the hybrid system could shut down, resulting in loss of motive power. Loss of motive power while driving could increase the risk of an accident.

In the event of a collision, there is a possibility that the webbing for the buckle part of the seatbelt could consequently become cut and separate at the anchor plate.   The brake reservoir tank is designed for left hand drive Yaris hybrid vehicles. Due to the design of the chamber divider in the reservoir tank which separates the front and rear brake fluid lines, both front and rear brake system functionality may be lost in the event that brake fluid leaks from the front brake system. This could lead to a crash.

  Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2015 Yaris vehicles manufactured January 13, 2015, to February 27, 2015. The front strut mounting bearings can be damaged when a high load is applied to the strut, such as driving over a large bump.

  Utbedring: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the strut mounting bearings and, as necessary, replace the strut and front suspension support sub-assembly, free of charge. Remedy parts are currently unavailable. Interim notices were mailed to owners July 12, 2016. The recall began on September 29, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
